Burleigh Fire Dragons Regatta - Nov 18 2018
Following on the heels of Pan Pacs, our club swung into action to host our own annual regatta.  With 18 clubs registered in a full program of 500m and 2km racing, this was going to be no mean feat for our small club. However, thanks to the dedicated commitment and support of members of other dragon boat clubs who provided and transported boats to the venue, provided volunteers and officials to assist on the day and helped set out and take down the course, and of course our own club members, past members, family and friends, who assisted in numerous ways, the regatta was a great success ran. To all competitors, volunteers, officials, food/coffee providers and raffle sellers and spectators, a Huge THANK YOU to you all for your support.

Pan Pacific Masters Games - November 2 - 4 2018.

What a fantastic experience it was to combine with the  Dragons Abreast Gold Coast club to form a combined women's Senior B team. With 95% of the crew Senior C members, the team progressed strongly through their first heat and directly into the semifinals in the 200 and 500 metre events and finished strongly in 4th place in both events.
However, the final 4.8km 'Round the Island Race' was where the team showed their true grit and determination to take out 1st place from 16 team and the Gold Medal in the Women's All Age Groups event. A number of our crew also assisted Gold Coast Club with volunteering and helped deliver a great event. Well done Gold Coast Club and Pan Pacific Masters team for a well run and enjoyable event!

Kids in Need Regatta - October 28 2019
Burleigh actively supports our local community through participation in corporate and community events. The annual Kids in Need regatta at Tweed Heads is one such event. In 2018 BFD combined with Broadwater in this fun event to form a 'Disney on Water' team in the Women's and Mixed 20's events. There was some fierce racing in equally fierce weather conditions with the women's crew finishing in runner-up position and the mied crew making it through to the finals. Thanks KIN organisers for a fun day

11th IDBF Club Crew World Championships 2018
In July 2018 Burleigh Fire Dragons Senior C women’s team competed against a hot field of competitors from USA, Canada, Australia, Czech Republic and Russia in 11th Club Crews World Championships. This was a fantastic experience for our small crew who overcame many odds to make it to the start line. After some tense heats we were over the moon to come away with a SILVER medal in the 200 metre small boat event to Southern Heat (USA) in 1st place with WAM (USA) and Currumbin (Aus) in 3rd and 4th places.
The 500m events were tough races and after some very strong challenges in the heats we finished 4th in the final and came home proud of all we have achieved as a team and a club and our overall results. Here's hoping we will make it to the 12th IDBF CCWC in Paris in 2020.
